THE MAGIC OF MATCHDAY

En2End bring the magic of matchday to the masses with their unique hybrid experiences. Founder, Claire Hughes discusses how they create unique hybrid experiences for clubs, rights holders and brands that delight fans at home and away.

Since being established in 2019, En2End has gone from strength to strength, successfully pivoting during the Covid-19 crisis from delivering physical VIP matchday experiences and partner activations, to creating bespoke online solutions for governing bodies such as UEFA and global brands such as FedEx and Vitality.

The events Claire and her team curate provide partners with a platform for continual engagement with their own clients and fan base, as well as allowing brands to access and maximise their matchday rights.

“When Covid hit, during those first few weeks of lockdown, my husband and I came up with an online matchday experience which was a complete gamechanger,” said Claire.

By combining the very best of the in- person experience with a top-class virtual presence, En2End created several hybrid and virtual events which has included a series of one-hour preview shows for UEFA which included the Champions League, Europa League and EURO finals. This series of events brought together UEFA with their global partnership network in fully virtual attended summit and workshop sessions. The events were hosted hybrid, with some physical and remote contributors, viewed by an audience across the globe.

Hybrid Events & Connecting With Gen Z

“It’s not about replacing the in-person experience, it’s about how we’ve adapted and developed this experience to offer it to a wider audience, using technology. The fact that we have all learned to use technology more frequently in our daily lives, why would we go backwards, especially when the younger generations are watching and interacting with sport in a completely different way. You’re always going to want to be there in- person – that is still the ultimate experience, but to be able to talk to a wider audience, and to a younger audience, hybrid activation is crucial. They’ve grown up as digital natives and they’re the future fans of sport and brands. It’s about adapting the traditional way of activating. Technology is so adaptable and it’s changing at a rate of knots. We create that in-person experience online. You can still get nice touch points but by combining the in-person with online you get a better fan experience whilst allowing partners and rights holders to really maximise the use of your assets.”

EN2END GOES FROM STRENGTH TO STRENGTH

En2End is celebrating a successful second half of the year, since forming in May 2019, despite the challenges the global pandemic presented.

When live sport was suspended in March this year En2End were quick to adapt, using the down time to assess the services they offer and how they could develop these to suit the current climate. As soon as sport was back in action, so were En2End, offering clients a new kind of hospitality experience.

By developing a secure online platform, En2End was able to virtually host client’s guests, offering the same first-class pre-match hospitality they would in a stadium, from the comfort of their own home. Guests were able to log in to a dedicated webinar, guided by a presenter, and featuring interactive legend Q&As, quizzes, pre-match analysis and specific or bespoke client messages and business presentations.

This different offering enabled En2End to develop new business opportunities, and at a time when the hospitality and events industry is facing its most challenging times, the agency welcomed new clients, with Vitality and one more soon to be announced, joining AXA, Standard Chartered, Manchester FA & Trinity College Boston on its impressive list of clients.

“It has been a really difficult time for the hospitality and events industry, and we have been fortunate to continue to grow in these uncertain times. Our ability to react and adapt to the circumstances we were in reflects the nature of En2End as a company,” states Hughes. “As fans begin to return to sport, we plan to continue to offer our virtual hospitality service alongside our usual in-person events”.

Virtual events will never replace the undeniable influence that face-to-face interactions at live events have, but by offering an online and offline solution for our clients, En2End helps clients maximise their matchday sponsorship rights and enables them to engage with a global audience in a cost-efficient way. No matter what the future of corporate hospitality looks like, En2End has a solution.

Former footballer, Neil ‘Razor’ Ruddock proved he could still compete at the top of the league as he teamed up with Michelin star restaurant Northcote at an exclusive event created by En2End.

After proving himself in the kitchen as a finalist of Celebrity MasterChef, the former Liverpool player joined Northcote’s executive chef, Lisa Goodwin-Allen in the kitchen for a night of food, fun and a little bit of football.

Executed by the En2End team and Soccer Speaker, the event saw Razor work alongside renowned chef, Lisa to create a mouth-watering four-course menu. All the fun – and sometimes drama – of the kitchen was brought to life, as live footage of the pair in action was screened in each of the private dining rooms, giving guests an insight into the preparation of each dish.

As well as demonstrating his culinary skills in the kitchen, Razor met with each of the 60 guests dining as he presented his dishes with trademark charm and humour. After service, each guest also got to meet and have a photo with Lisa and Razor, as well as receive a signed copy of the evening’s menu as a memento of the night.

The evening was created by En2End to bring a new and different event and audience to Northcote.

En2End’s Founder and Director Claire Hughes comments:

“Working to the client’s brief En2End was able to create a unique event, unlike any other hosted at Northcote, which allowed us to attract a new audience to the establishment. Moving forward we have a solid template for creating further, interactive and experiential led events for the client’s other sites.

“The evening tops a successful run of client events since establishing the business six months ago. We are delighted to have been appointed to work with some amazing clients, including a principal partner of LFC, Trinity College, The Ian Rush Foundation and BT Sport, to name just a few.  We were also very honoured to be asked to join the committee for the James Milner Foundation, assisting in organising its annual fundraising ball. With some exciting new projects in the pipeline, we are looking forward to building on this success moving into the New Year.”

Craig Bancroft, Northcote’s Managing Director comments:

“The En2End team knew that we were looking for new, innovative event concepts to bring our fantastic Northcote offering to life for existing and also new clients. What the team at En2End created with our Michelin starred chef, Lisa Goodwin-Allen and Celebrity MasterChef finalist Neil ‘Razor’ Ruddock (booked via Soccer Speaker) means that we now have a new model for future events allowing us to engage with our existing clients in new and exciting ways but also bringing us a host of new followers and clients.”
